Our pre-school children at Brighton were super interested in a book called “The Ocean Story” by John Seven. It brought about such rich discussions about all the different creatures, protecting our sea and what can happen when we don’t.
We extended this by providing our own ocean for the children to explore and tweezers as litter pickers for the children to pick up all the litter that will cause harm to the ocean. Again, some great discussions and rich language as well as lots of sensory fun and fine motor development.
Living by the sea our nursery children are very aware about the need to protect it, environmental issues, such as the fish are swallowing all the litter and how to protect our beaches. "Take your rubbish home with you."
